Do I really need to go to church?
Following Jesus is personal, but it was never meant to be private. When you trusted Christ, he brought you into his family. From the beginning, believers gathered to learn, pray, share meals, and care for one another (Acts 2:42-47), and the Bible urges Christians not to give up meeting together (Hebrews 10:24-25).
You need other disciples, and they need you. A local church is where you are taught, encouraged, corrected, and cared for, and where you learn to serve.
If church feels intimidating, or you have been hurt by a church before, that is worth talking about honestly. Start small. Go with someone if you can. Introduce yourself to a pastor, say that you are new to following Jesus, and ask how to connect with a small group. Look for a church that teaches the Bible clearly and welcomes honest questions.
