Week 2 · Learning to abide

Day 14
Notice the fruit God grows

Before you read, ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand the passage and respond honestly.

Read

Galatians 5:16-26

Read in the ESV ↗

Read the whole passage slowly, twice if you can. Then come back here.

Understand

Paul contrasts life directed by sinful desires with life led by the Spirit. The Spirit produces a recognizable kind of character. His fruit includes love, patience, faithfulness, and self-control. These qualities serve real people; they are more than private spiritual achievements.

Growth involves resisting sin and keeping in step with the Spirit. It will often be gradual, and comparison can distort your view. Ask where God’s work is becoming visible and where you still need help. You may see progress in a quicker apology or a more patient response. Give God thanks without pretending the struggle is over.

Pray

Holy Spirit, grow the character of Jesus in me. Help me resist what harms my relationship with God and others. Make me attentive to your work and humble about the growth I still need. Amen.

Use this as a starting point, then speak in your own words.

Reflect

Which aspect of the Spirit's fruit would most change one relationship this week?

Act today

Choose that relationship and practice one fitting response. Then check in with your companion about days 8-14. Share one discovery, one question, and one place you need prayer. Invite them to describe growth they have noticed without demanding reassurance.
